The Worx Group is proud to announce that Managing Member Donna Palomba was awarded the state's third annual "Connecticut Working Woman of the Year" by Westfarms and the CT Department of Labor during a news conference on Friday, May 11. Palomba was selected the winner among four other nominees at the official kick-off to Westfarms Working Women's Weekend, a free event celebrating women presented by L'Oreal Paris on May 12 and 13.

Palomba is a co-founder of The Worx Group, a full-service, integrated marketing company that began in 1987. She provides expertise in all disciplines of her business, including design, art direction, marketing strategy, research, media, public relations, copywriting and new media. Her skills and leadership are driving forces behind the success of The Worx Group, which has developed marketing projects for AT&T, UBS, ESPN, Holiday Inn, FedEx, IBM and Bic Corporation in the past year alone.

"This award gives us the opportunity to hear some amazing stories from the state's leading working women," said Linda Agnew, deputy commissioner, Connecticut Department of Labor. "We look for those extraordinary women who are everything to everybody and acknowledge her for the impact she's made."

Palomba recently founded a non-profit organization named Jane Doe No More at www.janedoenomore.org. The new organization provides education and aid to victims of sexual assault. To help spread her message, Donna recently appeared on The Today Show and was also featured on a two-hour Dateline NBC special. She shared her inspirational story of being victimized and then challenging the current system for positive changes to shorten the time from crime to healing.

"It's an honor and a privilege to be selected 'Connecticut Working Woman of the Year' for 2007 by my peers and from such fine company," remarked Donna Palomba, managing member of The Worx Group. "I accept this award for every woman who has ever battled adversity and helped to make a difference."

As the recipient of "Connecticut Working Woman of the Year," Palomba received a round-trip vacation for two, a $500 Westfarms shopping spree, a L'Oreal Paris gift package and more. To be eligible for the award, nominees needed to be woman over 18 years of age, currently living full-time in Connecticut who works in any capacity and demonstrates outstanding achievement and/or has overcome adversity. The Advisory Panel that selected Palomba included notables, such as former winners Stephanie Haines and Rosalind Best; Carol Hamilton, president of L'Oreal Paris; Allison Demers, WRCH-FM host; Linda Agnew, deputy commissioner for the Connecticut Department of Labor and Wendy Haggerty, marketing director, Westfarms.

"Many women in our lives serve as an ongoing inspiration for all they do but rarely receive recognition," said Wendy Haggerty, marketing director for Westfarms.

Palomba also volunteers to help many non-profit organizations, currently serving on the boards of directors for Special Olympics Connecticut and formerly Safe Haven of Waterbury and The United Way of Greater Waterbury. Aside from her business and non-profit work, Donna is a devoted wife and mother to two children, who are both currently attending college.
